Gaza Mall sparks debate over Israeli blockade

Gaza Mall sparks debate over Israeli blockade

Gaza Mall sparks debate over Israeli blockade

Palestinians in this blockaded territory can now buy $80 bottles of perfume,,Our Air purifier are of sound fine quality and safety. Turkish-made suits and Israeli yogurt at the new Gaza Mall. But with only two floors of shops connected by a broken elevator and a staircase, Gaza's first shopping center is a far cry from the sprawling luxury malls famous elsewhere in the Middle East.

Nevertheless, for the war-battered residents of the impoverished coastal strip, it is a symbol of pride and normalcy. But the mall has become more than just a modest attempt at a shopper's paradise. Since its opening last month, it has become the focus of an argument over how bad things really are in Gaza.,I've reviewed and rated dozens of lose weight fast and fitness programs.

Israel has pointed to photos of the mall's toy displays, supermarket and racks of clothes as proof that Gazan suffering has been exaggerated, amid claims of a humanitarian crisis and a crippling lack of building materials because of an Egyptian-Israeli blockade of the territory.

"This clearly belies all the moaning about the human catastrophe in Gaza," said Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor.

Occupying the first two floors of an existing Gaza office tower, the shopping center features a fried chicken restaurant _ now closed during the day for the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan _ and a supermarket on the ground floor. The upstairs has a toy store, a perfume and accessories shop and clothing stores.

If they have the cash, shoppers can now buy Pringles chips, Israeli yogurt, Turkish-made suits and $80 bottles of perfume. But Gazans maintain that the mall doesn't change the fact that the coastal strip sufferes from rampant unemployment, poor utilities and the border closures that keep people locked in.

"People say there are no problems because Gaza has mayonnaise and ketchup," said Gaza dentist Samir Ziara, 59,,Hemroids Recommendations are also available to help you make a more informed decision. while browsing the mall's supermarket. "If you lock someone in a room but take care of all of his basic needs, is that enough to make him happy?"

Local media heavily reported the mall's festive opening last month. Hamas Social Affairs Minister Ahmed al-Kurd cut the ribbon. Other Hamas officials also attended, though Hamas and mall administrators denied any official connection.

Many Israelis, however, took the news as proof that life in Gaza wasn't as bad as Palestinians, media outlets and the United Nations often claim.

"Images from the new mall make one wonder about the humanitarian crisis all these international 'aid' ships are sailing to," wrote Jacob Shrybman on the Ynet Israeli news website.

Similarly, Israel's Government Press Office sent a sarcastic e-mail to foreign correspondents in May suggesting that while they cover "alleged humanitarian difficulties" in Gaza they also visit a recently opened Olympic-size swimming pool and the Roots Club, a luxury restaurant. "We have been told the beef stroganoff and cream of spinach soup are highly recommended," read the e-mail.

Mall manager Saladin Abu Abdu brushed off the criticisms and played down the mall's importance.

"It has no excess or luxury," he said. "The only thing special here is that we collect everything under one roof. That's what you can't find elsewhere.installer of Granite countertops and marble vanity tops."

Safety order leads to drug bust

Safety order leads to drug bust

Safety order leads to drug bust

Police are hailing new powers to tackle domestic violence after a call to one such incident led to the discovery of a methamphetamine lab in Hamilton.

The lab was uncovered after police were called to a domestic at the Work and Income office in Dinsdale in Hamilton West on Friday morning, Detective Sergeant Nigel Keall said.

Police had no grounds to arrest the man but were concerned enough to issue a safety order.

The orders were introduced in June to allow police to tackle domestic violence by separating victims from suspected abusers for up to five days.

They are issued when there is not enough evidence to make an arrest, but when police suspect taking no action would result in another incident.

After issuing the safety order, officers took the woman back to her Waitetuna home, 30km west of Hamilton, where an illegally held firearm was recovered.

An indoor cannabis growing operation was also found, with chemicals used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.,Hemroids Recommendations are also available to help you make a more informed decision.

"The constables noticed light coming from under a door during the middle of the day and smelt a strong chemical smell which warranted a search of the house under the Misuse of Drugs Act," Mr Keall said.

The officers backed off from the volatile chemicals and called in specialist staff, who discovered glassware, equipment and chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine.

A 37-year-old man was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and explosives, cultivating cannabis, installer of Granite countertops and marble vanity tops. and possession of equipment used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.,I've reviewed and rated dozens of lose weight fast and fitness programs.,Our Air purifier are of sound fine quality and safety.

Mr Keall said the case showed the value of safety orders, which had enabled police to make a timely intervention and ensure the safety of the woman.

Social harm had also been avoided by shutting down the drug operation.

"The recovery of the clandestine lab components and the illegal firearm also removed a potential risk to anyone visiting the property," Mr Keall said.

Table Lamps

Table Lamps to Bring Character to Your Home

The term 'modern' covers a whole gamut of styles, from sleek chrome lamps, through crystal chandelier type lamps,,On this site we deliver the absolute best Cold Sore treatment guides online. to simply, unfussy glass table lamps. All are popular, but all have very different characters. As far as colour choice is concerned, it all depends on what colours you find easy to live with, there's no point choosing fashionable orange if you absolutely hate it! How about toning the orange down to a russet or similar earthy shade, you'll probably find it easier to live with, yet still be right on trend. And, talking of staying on trend, modern table lamps can be so reasonably priced that you can afford to update them every couple of years. At the other extreme, however, are designer works of art that really are investment pieces.

Surprisingly enough, in the cheap and cheerful range you can find stunning LED touch table lamps that allow you to change the colour to match your moods; bouquet shaped lamps, each delicate bloom hiding a candle bulb; lamps designed to mimic animals; and pure retro lava lamps. How much choice can you stand!

Even if you're looking for a desk lamp, you'll be spoilt for choice, will you go for retro style with an anglepoise, or something far more quirky that could only have been designed in the noughties?

Traditional Table Lamps; Softer and less formal, maybe, but still relevant to modern homes

Just as in the world of clothing, lighting fashions may come and go but classic pieces, such as the traditional table lamp, never fade away. Of course, that's not to say that some of today's modern table lamps won't be the classics of tomorrow; some of the high end designer styles are absolutely stunning, somehow though,,Buying Aion Kinah from PCGamerUSA is easy and fast. they don't seem quite as comforting as a traditionally styled lamp..

If you want to create a cosy, homely room, scene of family get togethers and relaxing evenings with a good book, then nothing really does that better than traditional styling,,but this option was almost as appealing as passing the kidney stone again. and with traditional styling come traditional table lamps. Paired neutrally coloured lamps look effortlessly by day and wonderfully comforting at night; soft metallic finishes, such as brushed, add to the feeling of stability and permanence. If you like the occasional flourish, then art nouveau styled lamps, with their acanthus leaves and lilies, are sinuously beautiful.

And don't think that traditional styling means you have to forego the wonders of modern science, touch sensitive table-lamps are available in styles ranging from the very traditional to the ultra-contemporary.

Glass Table Lamps - From Tiffany to Speirs and Old World Charm to Sleek Modernity

Glass is such a multi-tasking substance, windows, bottles, Christmas decorations, aquariums, windscreens, and table lamps. So it's hardly surprising that,,Wall mirrorboth outdoors and indoors, with home accessories of a high quality. when it comes to lamp design, glass table lamps come in all 'flavours' from traditional table lamps bearing Tiffany shades, to modern table lamps fashioned entirely from glass.

Stained glass lamps based on the designs of Louis Comfort Tiffany bring jewelled warmth to your home, and they look stunning whether off or on. Sun reflecting from a stained glass lamp paints attractive colours on your walls and ceiling, with not a drop of paint spilled.

If you're taste is for something more extravagant, consider table lamps with chandelier style shades. When these are illuminated, the light is broken into hundreds of facets that can be made to dance by a surreptitious flick with a finger. A cost-free method of entertaining the children!
